“In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse (Aaron Paul) must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future.”
Breaking Bad is back! Well… sort of. Not really actually. I was so jacked up for this movie, I think it made it harder to live up to the hype. Don’t get me wrong El Camino is very good and very well written (as we would expect from Vince Gilligan), but it just seemed to be missing something. It was an excellent send of for Jesse, but it was a slow burn that really lead to no burn at all. The first hour was pretty slow moving. It filled us in on A LOT of information, which was much needed, but then we get a little hint of that old Breaking Bad action/chaos… and it was gone in an instant.
I think there is certainly potential to have a few more of these “Breaking Bad” movies or even a few mini series/spin offs like Better Call Saul. Like I said though, I’m not sure if I just had the movie built up too high in my mind or if it really doesn’t live up to the hype. I’m curious to see what other people’s thoughts are in the coming weeks after they are able to watch. If you are or were a fan of Breaking Bad, then you still need to see this no matter the hype.
