During World War I, two British soldiers — Lance Cpl. Schofield and Lance Cpl. Blake — receive seemingly impossible orders. In a race against time, they must cross over into enemy territory to deliver a message that could potentially save 1,600 of their fellow comrades — including Blake’s own brother.

Wow, wow wow, wow wow, wow wow! 1917 is a masterpiece. I honestly haven’t seen many war movies since Saving Private Ryan, but 1917 is the best I have seen since then and to be quite frank, its even better. If 1917 doesn’t win the Oscar for best picture, I’ll be pissed! I haven’t seen all the nominees, but it’s far and away the best of the ones I have seen. The way Sam Mendes filmed 1917 was brilliant. If you don’t know what I am talking about… he filmed it as if the entire movie was done in one take. The cut scenes were nearly nonexistent. I hope this becomes more of a trend. It made the two hours fly by and it was so jam packed with action, I almost felt out of breath by the end.

1917 should and will walk away with the most awards on February 9th. Go see it now. It’s a movie that you can certainly watch a few times so you mine as well give it a watch before it gets crowned champion of 2019!
