Darrel (Cameron James Elie), a young Black autistic boy, convinces his mom (Chloe Arnold) to let him stay home alone so she can pursue a once in a lifetime opportunity. But when unexpected circumstances surface, he must find a unique way to cope with his meltdown alone.

If this short isn’t up for an award, it’s highway robbery. Excellent, excellent work from everyone involved. From the acting, to the directing, to the writing, to the cinematography… this is just an all around fantastic film that brings awareness to autism.

In A Beat immerses you into life with an autistic child. It shows you how difficult some situations can be. Very eye opening… and watering!

Cameron James Elie is amazing as Darrel. This kid has a bright future ahead of him.

Do yourself a favor and take 30 minutes of your time to watch In A Beat. The full video is available above or on YouTube.
