Matvey (Aleksandr Kuznetsov) has just one objective: to gain entry to his girlfriend’s parents’ apartment and kill her father, Andrey (Vitaliy Khaev) with a hammer to restore her honour. But all is not as it initially seems and Matvey’s attempts to bludgeon the family patriarch to death don’t quite go to plan as Andrey proves a more formidable – not to mention ruthless – opponent than he anticipated… and Matvey, for his part, proves stubbornly unwilling to die.

WOW… What a WILD ride Why Don’t You Just Die! is. It’s non-stop action. Have you ever seen the Crank movies with Jason Statham? Well, to me, this film had that kind of vibe, but on a smaller scale (ie, one apartment instead of an entire city). However, Why Don’t You Just Die! is like Crank if Quentin Tarantino were directing it. Shall I say, Crank on crack?

Why Don’t You Just Die! is listed as “comedy,” among other listings, but the comedy part threw me off. It did have some moments I laughed at, however, I would classify it as a dark comedy (if anything). I feel it’s more of an action thriller though.

The acting was excellent and the filmography was perfect. There were scenes that gave me chills, as I could almost feel the pain. This movie was non-stop from start to finish and even as it ended I was waiting for something else to go down. This will sure open people’s eyes up to everyone involved. Bravo!

If you are looking for some movie recommendations for your social distancing, this is absolutely one you need to see. As long as you can deal with some pretty gory violence. The downfall is, it won’t be release until early April. Hopefully the lock down is over by then, but who knows. If it isn’t, keep your eyes peeled for Why Don’t You Just Die! because it is pure entertainment!
